Naked Truth Award: CodePink’s Topical Topless Protestors

When it comes to Bank of America, CodePink has taken all they can bare.

Yesterday, protestors from the women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement Code Pink interrupted a speech by Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan to contest recent foreclosures as well as larger corporate greed and moral bankruptcy.

Sounds like just another day on Occupy Wall Street, until you hear the protest slogan of the day: Bust up Bank of America. And yes, this message was painted on the protesters’ busts.

According to the press release reporting on the event, “Taking off their suit jackets and blouses, they stood next to the CEO in their pink bras, with Bust up Bank of America written on their chests.” The group filmed the event and you can watch the video, as well as read more first-person accounts, on Women Occupy.

I love that these ballsy protestors used the power of the naked body to make a social impact. There’s nothing more powerful than a woman exposing herself to expose the greed and corruption of corporate America. According to CodePink’s twitter, two of the protestors Rae Abileah and Medea Benjamin were later arrested but when they’re released—they have matching Naked Truth Awards waiting for them!

The Naked Truth Award is given to a person or organization that has somehow shown awesome bravery in standing up for truth, justice, health, freedom and/or coolness in our world.
